What is your favourite flavour Lollipop?
With the wind down at MelyndaMade before the arrival of bub number 3, due tomorrow, I have been pursuing some sewing that I have wanted to do for myself for quite a while.
In January I was fortunate enough to win a skirt pattern from Leanne at Hollipop Lane - who has now joined with Wendy to become Bugaloo Basics Designs - a dynamite force in creating classic patterns that you know I love to create with. I do have quite a few Bugaloo Basics Designs patterns but I am guilty of this pattern being the first I have sewn - the rest are on my to do list, I promise.
The Lollipop Twist and Swirl Skirt did not disappoint and it was snapped up in a hurry which was wonderful. There are 3 wonderful layers of ruffles and gorgeous bow that ties in the centre front. I love that all the ruffle layers are very visible which ensures fabric choice is not wasted on being hidden underneath a previous layer.
The time spent making this wonderful skirt was a little more that I had hoped but the end result was totally worth it. Choosing the perfect fabric combination is most of the battle, the next is the time spent cutting out and then to my favourite part - sewing this magnificent creation together.
My fabric choices are usually a little different to the majority but that is what I hope you love about my creations - your own unique piece of Handmade MelyndaMade Clothing.
I chose a contrast in the fabric lining to give a little lady who loves to twirl that extra wow factor as this skirt certainly does twist and swirl as briefly tested by my 2 and 4 year old. I am planning a navy one for my little lady of 2 years - she loves pretty!
The next time I make this wonderful skirt I had a tip from the pattern to use a "Ruffler Foot", a larger attachment that perfectly spaces the gathers in each layer to see the effect of this,
