Heather portrays how the Goanna is hunting for its food in the Aboriginal habitat. You can see women (semi-circle representation sitting near waterholes and people are walking along a path in the bush. Goannas are a large lizard and live in most parts of Australia except on the island of Tasmania. The reptile lays its eggs in a nest or burrow and some even lay their eggs in termite mounds. Unlike many other variety of lizards it does not regrow lost limbs or tails. The Goanna is predatory and and scavenging in behaviour There are 25 species of Goanna found in Australia. The Goanna features largely in Aboriginal mythology and dreamtime stories and is frequently featured in their art and in symbolic spiritual motifs. The Goanna is also an Aboriginal food.

 

Heather is from Victoria and is a well-known artist and a designer of fashion shoes. I am continuing to locate further information about Heather.
