Fabric: Light weight cotton: Bush Food by Cindy Wallace:
This painting depicts bush foods vividly such as bush sultana, bush tomato, cherries, etc. The design also shows waterholes, running water, walking paths and women with digging sticks. Bush Food: The Australian Aboriginal people are hunters and gatherers and collect their major diet from the countryside or 'bush'. Fruit and vegetables like bush banana, potatoes, sweet potatoes, bush tomato, plums, and cherries are gathered as well as mulga seeds to make bread. Their main protein sources are kangaroo, wallaby, lizards, snakes, fish from the waterholes, insects, etc. As carers and conservationists of their land, the Aboriginal people have never hoarded or stored food, and have only collected the amount immediately required.
